Vice President – Developement Strategies

Doug Moormann is a seasoned economic development and government relations professional with more than twenty-five years of experience in linking people with government to creatively solve problems.

He joined with Chip Gerhardt in 2011 to form Development Strategies Group (DSG), an economic development consulting firm located in Cincinnati. He has successfully negotiated incentive packages and advised on project development for dunnhumbyUSA, Kroger, Neyer Properties, the City of Hamilton, Paycor, Michelman, ThyssenKrupp Bilstein, AdvancePierre Foods, Green Bay Packaging, VEGA Americas and many other clients.

Before joining DSG, Doug served as the Vice President, Economic Development for the Cincinnati USA Regional Chamber. Doug led a team of economic development professionals through the Cincinnati USA Partnership, the regional economic development initiative designed to grow the regional economy through business attraction, job retention and regional marketing.

He also held the position of Vice President, Government Affairs for the Cincinnati USA Regional Chamber. In this role, Moormann was deeply involved in efforts to secure funds for replacement of the Brent Spence Bridge, initiated annual business advocacy trips to Washington DC, planned the Leadership Exchange missions and successfully facilitated the development of requests for state funding of community projects.

Prior to joining the Chamber, Moormann held a number of positions in state government including serving as the Executive Assistant for Business and Industry to Governor Bob Taft, and Chief of Staff to Lieutenant Governor Maureen O’Connor. While serving in state government, Doug helped to devise the Governor Taft’s Third Frontier program, a tech-based economic development initiative, create and utilize Ohio’s Job Retention Tax Credit, eliminate the corporate franchise tax and business tax reform.

Doug has served on a number of board and commissions including: The Ohio Transportation Review and Advisory Council; Board of Directors of the European American Chamber of Commerce; the Greater Cincinnati Workforce Network, the Tri-ED Board of Directors, Brent Spence Bridge Corridor Advisory Committee, the Southwest Ohio Regional Workforce Investment Board and the St. Francis DeSales Festival Committee. The Ohio Attorney General appointed him to the Governing Board of the Office of the Ohio Consumers’ Counsel in 2017. Doug is also a graduate of Leadership Cincinnati, Class XXX.

He began his career on Capitol Hill as a legislative aide to then-Congressman Mike DeWine after graduating from the University of Dayton with a degree in political science. Doug, his wife Kimberly, and their children reside in Madeira.
